Thanks for posting this. I just looked at the list and immediately contacted a friend whose name I saw on the list, I was surprised that she would’ve signed it. She was NOT given all of the information on what she was signing. She was mislead to sign something and unfortunately hadn’t read the form before signing. How many other people signed it under false pretenses?

She’s going to try contacting the rec commission to have her name removed. It was a nice 75 year old man that approached her so she trusted him.

I hope she will post her experience here also. I’m positive she’s not the only one

I did recommend that she do that. She’s also going to contact her neighbors who signed and see if they knew what they were signing.

Perhaps you should change your website to “anythingbutnewhartfordplus” since that’s what you seem to “report!”

Ms. Anonymous – Do you see something wrong with having another news blog? If the one you referred to didn’t block people who attempt to post differing views and facts, there probably wouldn’t be a desire or need for another news blog.

Bravo Mr P! Someone needs to be the muscle for the moron fringe. I really do feel for you. Have you been bullied since 1st grade? The contempt you show towards athletics is priceless. Maybe if you had stood up for yourself, just once, everything could have been different (rent “Back To The Future”).

NH+ won’t allow freedom of ideas from its readers, which is its right as a private organization. So many of those same readers have found their outlet. It’s unfamiliar to you. It’s called standing up for yourself. Try it.

Neil, I see nothing wrong with having another news blog . . . I was actually excited to learn about anothe blog in New Hartford, only to be disappointed that its focus is football (which I support) and bashing NH+. Where is the other news?

I was happy to see the most recent post. Hope these posts continue.

Anonymous, the other news is coming. Please be patient and understand that the recent “bashing” is not really what it appears. Accusations must be answered and half-truths addressed because the football side has not been portrayed fairly. These are kids who love a sport, and that sport is in jeopardy because of lack of practice space. It is simply a response to being under attack, nothing more. New Hartford Plus is great when it is honest. The focus lately has been on NH+ because someone has to answer to their charges and this is the only outlet supporters have. We will not stop defending these teams in their quest for field space so long as someone is out there attacking them, and believe me they’ve even kicked it up a notch.

Stephanie, I appreciate your commitment to supporting youth sports. As I stated in my response to Neil, I completely support the football program in New Hartford. The back-and-forth banter between NH+ and the Beacon (and I follow both) are leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth. I am able to ascertain more “news” from NH+. I will be patient in hopes that the Beacon will do the same.

  7. Anonymous, we’re as unhappy as you are. We have other varied interests, and I posted some yesterday afternoon to try to diffuse the situation.

We DO support youth sports here, though, and part of the reason for this blog was to inform people about youth sports, and correct some of the misinformation being posted (the veiled accusations about the First Selectman and the handling of the petition yesterday was one).

In talking to many of the young football parents over the winter, who just wanted a place for their kids to practice and not have to worry about the program being yanked out from under them, I came up with the idea that another point of view was needed. Full disclosure, one of the football players is my grandson.

New Hartford Plus fills a very important need in town. I have to admit I go there myself, and not just to find out what they said last.

Since the Senior Center at Brodie Park South was nixed, there has been an intensity to remove the program still using the field for practice. Is it a vendetta? I don’t know.

I hope you’ll stick around. We’re kind of slow right now. We expect to be writing about all of those categories shortly. I retire at the end of the month and will have more time to get some of that content going.

Hopefully, football will be given an adequate place to practice and this will all go away, and we can go back to being the great community we are.

    Thanks for your interest.

    Sharon
