Just sayin’

Our Kindergarten grandson is reading.  He is sounding out words, and able to communicate (hopefully correctly later) by doing that.  Our first grade granddaughter (in New Hampshire) is reading Junie B. Jones books.  Our second grade granddaughter loves those books, and has a blog that her Dad set up.

My oldest grandson is studying revolutionary history.  So far we’ve been watching and listening and it seems to be mostly ok.  He’s good about sharing with us, and we are good about sharing back.  The exercises the teacher has planned are amazingly fun.  He is enjoying it.   He’s already a history buff like his Dad.

I read “See Dick Run” in first grade.  In college though, I went to school with young adults who couldn’t read or write.  To be fair, my daughters could do both and they did it well.  I don’t know if they were as advanced as these children are now.  I don’t remember what they were reading.  It was a while ago.

We are hoping there won’t be a point when this amazing progress stops.
