Hurricane Sandy Storm Relief Effort Collection Point Blue Sky Foods 431 Main Street, New Hartford

We have some awesome people in New Hartford!  It always makes me so proud to live among them.

Blue Sky Foods is collecting warm clothes and non-perishable food to be dropped off at NBC studios in New York to help the people devastated by Sandy.  They sent off a truckload this morning, will continue to collect Thursdays through Sundays for as long as NBC is collecting, and will keep sending items to NBC.

I spoke to Deb Kuszaj, who said that they would collect any of the items requested on the NBC website.  The list is at:

Deb said that they felt that they needed to get involved and help out after they experienced a fire in 1999 just days before Hurricane Floyd.  They remember what it felt like to live through a tragedy, and wanted to help those that had lost so much.

Please help out, if you can. Blue Sky Foods is open Thursday thru Saturday 11:00 am – 8:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, their Fall hours.  Their website is at:  http:/

  1. Thanks for posting this (and for your donations!).. a big vehicle chock full of warm clothing went off to NBC Connecticut this morning with our volunteer driver, Cathy Bohn Fischer of Keller Williams.

We will continue to collect non-perishable food, warm clothing and personal care items at Blue Sky during operating hours Thursday thru Sunday and will get your donations to the appropriate agencies. Donations have been coming in all day and we will continue to collect donations when we reopen again on Thursday. We appreciate everyone’s generosity !
