Our Visitor, the Moose
It appears that the moose who trod across our garden was euthanized by the DEP yesterday in Pleasant Valley because of brainworm, a parasite carried by White Tail Deer, which has no effect on deer, but is deadly to moose.
The moose was spotted by fishermen on the West Bank of the Farmington, and the DEP was called. The moose was non-responsive, but standing and wouldn’t move even when yelled at, or approached.
The animal’s brain has been sent to UCONN for testing.
